Hello, I figured today I’d just throw some quick tips down, some that I feel are important when it comes to saving money and budgeting throughout the year. I hope you enjoy. Cheers.
- 1. Put together a weekly grocery list that fits your budget.
- 2. Take advantage of any coupons you come across.
- 3. Drive slow, no quick starts or hard cornering
- 4. Keep the gas line above ¼ tank. Don’t let your engine suck up gas from the bottom of the tank.
- 5. Be on time with your oil changes, typically every 3000 miles.
- 6. Rotate your vehicle’s tires to extend the life of the tread.
- 7. Be easy on the brakes. Avoid braking at the last moment.
- 8. Coffee is easy to make yourself.
- 9. Visit a hotel for breakfast. Go in sweats and a t-shirt. (Just kidding)
- 10. Invest in a piggy bank, teach the spouse and kids to fill it.
- 11. Pay your bills on time, avoid those late fees.
- 12. Do you mind generic products? I don’t…
- 13. Utilize your local library for movies, books and family time.
- 14. Try public transportation at least once a week.
- 15. See if there are any car pool opportunities
- 16. Ride a bike to work. Cuts down on auto and health expenses.
- 17. You don’t need the perfect hotel for your next vacation.
- 18. Plan your vacations far in advance.
- 19. Reduce the use of electricity whenever necessary.
- 20. I love long showers but am only allowed one a week
- 21. Plan your bulk purchases.
- 22. Know to always shop around for higher priced items.
- 23. Divide your annual bills like ‘Vehicle registration’ by 12 (months), this is how much extra you place into savings each month.
- 24. Track every expense, review statements every month to see where your money is going.
- 25. You can find a lot of hot deals on craigslist.org, just be careful with anything you must plug in.
- 26. Pets are fun and expensive, (Spent $30 yesterday on dog food and new fish tank filter).
- 27. Buy batteries often? Get rechargeable batteries. They work well.
- 28. Pack a lunch to work.
- 29. Keep your daily trips to the store limited. Get everything at once or do everything in one trip.
- 30. Limit dinner outings. Eat at home often. Nothing like a home cooked meal.
- 31. Comparison shop for insurance and take advantage of free resources like Low Insurance & Security, NetQuote, Insure kids now and several other resources which you can find online.
